About Us

Brookby Pet Lodge - South Auckland Kennels And Cattery

About our pet accommodation

Brookby Pet Lodge is nestled on 10 acres in the lush, rural countryside of Brookby, South Auckland. Surrounded by beautiful farmland, our pet hotel is a picturesque retreat for your pet while you are away on holiday, moving to a new house, or at work.

Graeme and Ruth at Brookby Pet Lodge have been providing the ultimate in doggie daycare and accommodation for dogs and cats of all ages, breeds and needs since 2007.

Pet care you can rely on

Planning and booking a holiday can be challenging enough, but for many pet owners working out what to do with Fido and Fluffy while you’re away can be an even bigger headache. We understand that, so at Brookby Pet Lodge we make everything as easy as possible.

Small dog, big dog, busy dog, shy dog, older dog, cuddly moggy, feline princess, aloof independent puss or curious kitten, we love them all and provide a comfortable, safe and secure environment for your pets.

Whether your dog is here for a day stay, or your cat or dog is with us longer as a boarder, our staff are passionate, caring animal lovers and are fully trained to take care of your pet.

Come and have a look

Both you and your pet should feel comfortable with our kennels or cattery before their stay begins. We welcome inspections and will happily show you through our kennels and cat boarding facilities. We’re proud of where your pet will be staying and enjoy showing our kennels and cattery off.

No appointment is necessary, but to avoid unnecessary disruption to the other pets staying with us, we ask that you come only between 8-11am in the mornings and 3-5pm in the afternoons. Feel free to check out the sleeping and play areas, as well as the air-conditioned private “hotel rooms”, communal lounges and splash pools.

Dogs’ life

It’s important that your dog has plenty of opportunities to play and socialise while staying with us, but it’s also important that everyone is safe. At Brookby Pet Lodge the canine playgroups are divided by size and by temperament. Just like us, all dogs have their own personalities. A dog might be big, but if they are a bit long in the tooth, they’re probably less playful, so we protect our more geriatric guests from their playful, bouncy, more youthful counterparts.

Your dog will return from their holiday with us happy and healthy, having enjoyed romps in the countryside and playing with other dogs

What you need to know

We understand that being separated from your animal family, for whatever reason or length of time, can be unnerving. We do not mind how many questions you have. No amount of emails or phone calls are a nuisance. We will always get back to you with answers as promptly as we can.

Co-ordinating the drop off and pick up of your pets with your own schedule can be tricky to organise. We try to be as flexible as we can and can be available for drop off and pick up times between 7.00am – 6.00pm each day.

To make sure you have a clear idea, we always communicate with emails that include drop-off and pick up times, opening times, your booking details and vaccination expectations.

Vaccinations required when staying at Brookby Pet Lodge

Dogs – require the following vaccinations – Parvovirus, Distemper, Hepatitis, Adenovirus 2, Parainfluenza, Leptospirosis, and Bordetella (less than 1 year and more than 14 days prior).

Cats – require the following vaccinations – Rhinotracheitis and Calicivirus (less than 1 year and more than 14 days prior).

When checking your pet in, our trained staff will be there to ask you to provide paperwork documenting your pet’s vaccination history.
Want to know how your pet’s stay is going? Check out our Facebook page. We put up regular posts and updates on our guests.

Time to go home, and we’ll provide you with a verbal report of how well your dog or cat did during their stay. After all, they can’t quite fill you in on the ride home. We’ll let you know who their best friend was, how they were eating and how their walks and playtime went.

Customer service and our cat and dog safety is something we take every seriously. If we need to discuss your pet’s behaviour or health, we will make every effort to contact you so we can work together toward a positive outcome for your pet, our pack and our staff.

Our rural retreat

Brookby Pet Lodge is approximately 5 kilometres west of Clevedon and 5 km southeast of Whitford. Living on the premises means that Graeme and Ruth are active within the kennels and very much in touch with all that happens here. It also means that, unlike other pet boarding facilities, there’s a human on-site 24 hours a day. Because we essentially have around-the-clock staffing, there is always someone here in case of an emergency and we have a detailed emergency plan, just in case.

The pet care team

Looking after your furry family when you can’t is a huge responsibility, and we firmly believe that anyone who works with animals should be trained in pet care. We have a dedicated, caring and experienced pet care team. Want to meet them?
